Administration Menu Configuration (Totara)

The Site Administration menu is where users with varying levels of administration access can go to manage and configure site records and settings. The menu will only display administration areas or items to users that have permission to access them.

The site administration menu can be accessed from the cog icon cogbuttons3  on the upper navigation bar, and can be configured accordingly. 

Configuring Administration Menu Groups

1.  Open the Site Administration menu, and click on the 'Menu settings' link at the lower-right corner of the menu to access the 'Administration navigation settings' page.

2.  Use the up and down arrows  arrowbuttons to change the order in which the groups appear within the site administration menu.

3.  If you would like to delete a group from the administration menu, click on the corresponding cog icon cogbuttons2 and select 'Delete group.'

Adding Navigation Links to Pre-Existing Groups

To edit the administration options under each group:

1.  Scroll down and expand your desired menu group.

2.  If you would like to add new navigation links to a group, click on the 'Add menu item...' drop-down menu and select your desired link.

3.  Use the up and down arrows arrowbuttonsto change the order in which the links appear within the administration menu. 

4.  If you would like to delete a link from the administration menu, click on the corresponding delete icon deletebutton to remove it. 

5.  If you would like to rename a navigation link title, click on the corresponding edit button edit-4 and enter a new title.

Adding a New Administration Menu Group

To create a new group in the site administration menu:

1.  On the 'Administration navigation settings' page, click the 'Add a new group' button located at the bottom of the page.

2.  Your new group will appear at the bottom of the pre-existing groups list, and will be labelled as 'Untitled.' Click on the edit icon edit-4 to add a custom title. 

3.  To add navigation links to your new group, click on the 'Add menu item...' drop-down menu and select your desired links.
