Written by Lambda Solutions | May 9, 2023

Moodle is a popular open-source Learning Management System (LMS) used by educational institutions and businesses worldwide. With every new release, Moodle introduces new features and improvements to enhance the e-learning experience for both learners and instructors.

Here's a comparison of Moodle 4.1 and Moodle 4.2:

  • User Interface: Both Moodle 4.1 and Moodle 4.2 come with a redesigned user interface that's more modern and user-friendly. However, Moodle 4.2 has made further improvements to the navigation and accessibility of the platform.

  • Dashboard: Moodle 4.2 introduces a new customizable dashboard, which allows users to add and remove widgets according to their preferences. Moodle 4.1 also has a dashboard, but it's less customizable than the one in Moodle 4.2.

  • Activity Completion: Moodle 4.2 has an improved activity completion feature that allows instructors to specify the criteria for completing an activity or course. Moodle 4.1 has a similar feature but is less robust than the one in Moodle 4.2.

  • H5P integration: Moodle 4.1 and Moodle 4.2 support H5P content types, but Moodle 4.2 has made it easier for instructors to create and embed H5P content directly into their courses.

  • Accessibility: Moodle 4.2 has significantly improved accessibility, including keyboard navigation and screen reader support. Moodle 4.1 also has some accessibility improvements, but not to the extent of Moodle 4.2.

  • Course Management: Moodle 4.2 introduces a new course management interface that allows instructors to manage their courses more efficiently. Moodle 4.1 has a similar interface but could be more intuitive than the one in Moodle 4.2.

Moodle 4.1 and Moodle 4.2 have new features and improvements to enhance the e-learning experience. However, Moodle 4.2 has further improved the user interface, accessibility, and course management, making it a more robust and user-friendly platform.
