The Client:
Occupational Health and Safety Agency for Healthcare in British Columbia (OHSAH)
The Challenge:
OHSAH is a provincial government agency which provides injury and illness prevention training for British Columbia’s healthcare industry workers. OHSAH came to Lambda Solutions in the fall of 2009, with a need to deploy its online courses onto a Moodle LMS with a Windows-based environment.
The switch to Moodle was prompted by a need on OHSAH’s part, to implement a Learning Management System (LMS), which would allow them to test, track and certify healthcare workers via the web. They chose Moodle for two reasons:
OHSAH required a custom Moodle instance, which would run in a Windows environment and provide student feedback, certification, tracking and grading capabilities.
The Solution:
Lambda Solutions deployed a custom, turn-key Moodle LMS solution for OHSAH. Lambda’s work in the project included the following:
The Results:
The Moodle instance for OHSAH was successfully deployed in 2009. OHSAH’s Knowledge Solutions team is now preparing to administer their Moodle-based courses to B.C Healthcare Workers and Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees around British Columbia.
The Client:
Vancity
The Challenge:
Vancity needed a way to capture their knowledge capital, standardize product knowledge of staff, and to minimize the impact on trainers when assessing and determining sales and service associate's "learning path".
The Solution:
Five online training modules were developed and delivered in a blended learning format. Pre and post assessments were used to evaluate learner knowledge and effectively direct the learning path. To automate this process, Moodle, an open source LMS was implemented.
The Client:
British Columbia Ministry of Employment and Income Assistance (MEIA)
The Challenge:
"Help! We need this course online in a month using our preferred technology!" Due to circumstances beyond their control, MEIA needed an online course on new internal custom software in time for a fixed rollout date.
The Solution:
Using Articulate, MEIA's authoring tool of choice, we created an interactive online course that provides an overview of a new web-based software. This 1-hour course features screen captures with audio, multiple interactivities, custom branding and assessments.
The Client:
Rogers
The Challenge:
To deliver bilingual national training to Rogers Business Support Group (BSG) on a software billing system where knowledge was scattered across the organization.
The Solution:
Lambda Solutions worked closely with Rogers BSG to develop a national blended learning program that delivers standardized learning. In addition to creating engaging courseware, Lambda implemented strategic infrastructure and policies as part of a long-term training solution.
The Client:
BC Hydro
The Challenge:
BC Hydro needed a quick and fun way to evaluate contractor and employee knowledge of and training in emergency procedures.
The Solution:
We collaborated with BC Hydro in the design and developed highly interactive and engaging multimedia (3D, Flash and Audio) scenarios through which learners can virtually walk through and assess their reaction in emergency situations.
The Client:
ICBC
The Challenge:
The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia, ICBC, needed a way to enhance their competitive edge and extend their service offerings to employees and Autoplan partners across BC. They wanted a training solution that is accessible anytime and anywhere.
The Solution:
Lambda Solutions, using Moodle and their ClearView Framework, created a learning environment that allows ICBC to create and edit online courses, incorporate performance tracking and administer users.
Challenge
In order to maximize face-to-face training for franchisees across North America, Kumon needed to replace one of the existing sections of their training currently being presented in an in-person, PowerPoint fashion with an interactive, self-paced online course.
Solution
For Kumon's first online course, Lambda Solutions created a highly interactive hosted course with full access to update course content as needed. To engage learner's interactivities with instant feedback, animated screen captures, and secondary learning areas were used.
Blast Radius
Challenge
Blast Radius, with wealth of creative talent, needed to impart a deeper understanding of the business processes that affect the bottom line to its employees.
Solution
Lambda Solutions with SFU's Learning Strategies Group created an online global orientation course based on core business processes. This interactive online orientation includes interviews with the CEO, case studies, and a comprehensive assessment to ensure learning.

Vancouver, BC, Jan 10, 2010 -Lambda Solutions has successfully deployed a custom Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) for the Occupational Health and Safety Agency for Healthcare in British Columbia (OHSAH).
OHSAH is a provincial government agency which provides injury and illness prevention training for British Columbia’s healthcare industry workers. In the fall of 2009, OHSAH contracted Lambda Solutions, a Vancouver-Based authorized Moodle Partner, to deploy its training material into a Moodle Learning Management System. The Moodle was successfully rolled out for testing in late 2009, allowing OHSAH to more effectively train, track, certify and provide feedback to learners, over the web. The organization is now preparing to administer the Moodle to Healthcare Workers around B.C.
"We chose Moodle because it's cost effective to install, has no annual licensing fees and is a flexible and modular install, allowing us to build out the system with more functionality as we need to," said Catherine Ogden, Director of Knowledge Solutions for OHSAH. "Overall we are very satisfied with Moodle. It has streamlined our learning process for users and has enabled more instructional methods to be incorporated into future course developments, such as discussion forums, blogs and wikis."
Lambda finished developing and installing the Moodle LMS in late 2009, with a custom theme, functionality and compatibility with a Windows-based environment. OHSAH’s Knowledge Solutions team is now preparing to administer their Moodle-based courses to B.C Healthcare Workers and Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees around British Columbia.
