Software Developer

Job Description

Lambda Solutions (www.lambdasolutions.net) is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with a high attention to detail. The ideal candidate is a highly organized self starter with excellent communications abilities who is able to manage situations with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Assist with architectural design and scalability issues
* Design, develop and test applications using PHP
* Provide technical solutions and project scoping for various projects
* Perform release management to coordinate, build, package and deploy to the QA, staging, and production environments
* Take ownership of and be responsible for the maintenance and extension of large portions of the application
* Monitor and track implementation of plans to ensure desired outcomes
* Help to drive forward software development best practices (eXtreme Programming/AGILE, Test Driven Development)
* Work across development and support groups to share technology, lessons learned and best practices

Requirements

* Post-secondary degree/diploma in computer science or related area
* 3-5 years experience with PHP
* Experience with object oriented analysis/design
* Knowledge of design patterns, refactoring and unit testing
* Experience working with a production environment with zero or very minimal downtime
* Participated in full life-cycle development, preferably on large projects (e.g., more than 15 people, longer than 6 months)
* Familiarity with relational databases, including MySQL
* Good knowledge of JavaScript, preferably in at least one framework like Prototype, jQuery or MooTools
* Good knowledge of the MVC design pattern (experience with a framework like CakePHP, Ruby on Rails, Django, etc.)
* Experience with Configuration Management (Source Code Control, Deployments, Builds)
* Experience with Web Services (REST/SOAP/XML-RPC)
* Experience working with Linux servers
* Knowledge of Agile Methodologies such as Extreme Programming (XP) or Scrum is an asset
* Strong work ethic plus ability to multi-task
* Good oral and written communication skills
